Deluxe Moon Pro App Reviews

Beutiful with a few disappointing oversights

Looks great, lots of detail, but strangely clunky. “Show dock icon” makes the menu bar icon go away when the app is closed, so that I thought I’d have to have the app in the dock full time in order to get the quick glance info, but it turns out that disabling “show dock icon” allows the menu bar icon to remain in place. Doesn’t open in a “window”, but rather uses the whole desktop such that part of the display is behind the dock - perhaps rescaling the display is difficult (?) but the only way to see the whole display is to maximize it to cover the dock. For those that are not astronomers, but would like to know more, a little hover over help on some of the more technical terms would be a really nice feature.

notes

very good app, very beautiful and useful. I think it might be able to do some annotation (for women for example, it would be cool to mark the menstrual calendar according to the moon)

Great Program

Program works great, a lot of facts and info on the moon, I found the developer to be very supportive. Deluxe Moon Pro and Lifewares other moon program Deluxe Moon have to be the best moon resource applications out there.

Important information missing from Macbook Air

This is a great app. However, the Gardening and Astrology section which covers: Specific gardening advise based on the Moon. Moon horoscope with aspects for health, business and personal life and other important information are not visible on MacBook Air. Perhaps this affects other screen size too. I wrote to the developer with he screenshot which he requested, but after communicating twice, nothing was ever heard from him again. As of this date, the sitaution remain the same which makes it practically not satisfactory when you are on Macbook Air.

Useful, clear, good looking

I’ve found it useful, clear, good looking.

A++++

Love this app.

Keepin up with the Moon

I just love this app.

Derping

I was so thrilled to open this app. it looks awesome, it has alot of fun features, and the description said it even had all the eclipse dates…..So i open it…. but it says that the current moon phase is in aries….. correct me if im wrong….but its the end of august….the horoscope dominating the sky currently is Leo almost to Virgo. Very disapointing. Any one who uses this for gardening…be aware that your plants dont want what Dr. Moon Deluxe is ordering. The chart that explains the Eclipses is eligible and makes zero sense. The universal time is also a bummer. If those things get fixed this app would be marvelous. if i cant figure a way to get my money back (if you havent noticed the app is $5.99 because it says educational) at least it looks cool on my desktop bar and i basically know the moon phase is correct because i double checked on google. I give it an A for Asthetics, and an F for excecution. i would probably give it no stars if that were even an option. Go home try again.

expensive, annoying and buggie app

The main user interface is cluttered with information. The font is too small, the color scheme makes it difficult to see the font anyway. Dark blue on slightly darker blue background. The map function is the buggiest thing about the app that I have found so far. It is very difficult to set your location because the mapping function doesn’t zoom and you’re stuck fussing forever trying to get the little white dot to the precise latitutde and longitude. There is a dial that allows more precise calibration, but the arrows are tiny and they are almost exactly the same color as the background. In any case, the location you set doesn’t translate onto the main display. In fact, the coordinates on the main display seem to have a completely random relationship to the coordinates you set on the badly executed map functionality. It constantly reverts to “Automatic” and there is now way of switching the setting to manual, apparently. Occasionally a little panel will slide out of somewhere to tell you something and offer a choice, but they don’t function. After all the trouble of setting the GPS coordinates for your location, they are lost when you re-open the program. At the slightest excuse, the coordinates revert to “Automatic." On some windows, the names of the months are misspelled. This app is not ready for prime time. I want my money back. My question for the developer: Are you trying to wreck the user’s day?

Great app - enjoy the additional views

GREAT

simple and perfect

Beautiful & Intuitive

I haven’t gotten to completely dig in to this app full throttle, however, as a photographer, I really value knowing the information it provides for night shooting to be able to plan ahead for star or landscapes. From a non-photographic standpoint it’s simply a beautiful app and is very visually pleaseing with great usability! :) Keep up the great work on this app! :) I have been referring other Photographer friends to it as well.

Great app for moon phase info

Useful app for knowing the moon phases plus the astrological connections of each phase. Helpful for anyone needing to track the moon, best app I’ve found to do this. One thing I’d love is to be able to send specific phases to my icalendar too as a reminder. It has worked flawlessly and with the Yosemite upgrade, no issues to report.

A complete eye candy!

Thanks for the update, but why would you add that thing in the menubar without providing an option to remove it? I can’t even make out that that is, and so I don’t need it cluttering the menubar. Please provide an option to get rid of it. Thanks!

Moonrise/Moonset is NOT off

I originally agreed with the last post that the Moonrise/Moonset was off until I realized that I was confusing it with the sunrise. The moonrise/moonset times ARE CORRECT. I changed my rating to it’s deserved five stars. It’s a nice, sleek looking app.

Gorgeous and information-rich!

This is by far my favorite moon-related app. It has everything, and is gorgeous to boot!

moon phase icon added to status bar? errr.. nope

the "whats new“ 1.5 claims that to have happened. Call me old fashioned and naive, but I really do believe things like that. At least not in the sense that the icon reflects the current phase, which I thought to be the idea, right? It stays on full moon, no matter what.. Sad, I was hoping for a quick glance. The German translation in addition is full of bugs, as if google translate did all the work, over a lunch break. Can’t comment on the math & science behind.. but they apperently took a lot of corners in other areas… no recommendation, buy at your own risk.. now how can I get my money back, again?

Lots of info, missing a few features though.

Review of version 1.5 (1.5.3) The good: This app has a lot of interesting information about the moon and it’s position in the sky. It is also visually attractive, which is nice, and the Notification Center panel widget is informative. I am glad that I paid for the app. Also, the menu bar icon DOES show the current moon phase, based on the calendar date selected in the app window. The bad: There is no setting that I can find to make the app display only in the menu bar, rather than the menu AND the Dock. If you click the exit in the main app window, it closes the entire app, removing it form the menu bar and the dock. It would be much nicer, IMO, if the main window would just close and/or minimize to the Dock rather than exiting the app. Also, there is no way to move any of the information (e.g. Moon phase dates) to the main OS X Calendar app. This would be a great feature to add.

it’s the best moon app out there (though of course it can always be improved)

I’ve searched through apps to get what I need and this app is as good as it gets at this point. Of course there are many things that can be and I’m sure will be improved over time. People that complain about this app obvisouly have no idea what goes into the making of an app and especially an informative app like this one. I highly recommend this app -it looks good, functions well and I’m sure the makers will keep on improving it so it will only get better.
